Gloucester City

Currently, the club competes in the National League North as of the 2023-24 season, positioning it at the sixth level of the English football league pyramid. The club's origins date back to 1883 when it was initially known as Gloucester before adopting the name Gloucester City in 1902. Following a brief hiatus in 1910, the club was re-established as Gloucester YMCA, later returning to its original name in 1925. Notably, Gloucester City enjoyed a lengthy affiliation with the Southern Football League, spanning an impressive 70 years from 1939 until their promotion to the National League system in 2009 after prevailing in a playoff final against Farnborough. Although geographically situated in the south, the club primarily competes in the National League North, except for a two-season stint in the National League South from 2017 to 2019. Throughout its history, Gloucester City has wandered among six different locations within the city. Notably, the club resided at Longlevens from 1935 to 1964, followed by stints at the Horton Road Stadium from 1964 to 1986, and Meadow Park from 1986 to 2007. Devastating flooding in July 2007 forced the club to seek temporary homes, resulting in matches being hosted at various stadiums, including Forest Green Rovers' New Lawn stadium, Cirencester Town's Corinium Stadium, Cheltenham Town's Whaddon Road, and Evesham United's Jubilee Stadium. The club ultimately returned to a renovated Meadow Park in December 2020, marking a significant milestone in their journey.
